Sunshine Friends Inc. has approximately 200 volunteers that bring their pets to visit residents at more than 55 facilities in Central New York. Not only does SFI provide services in Onondaga County, the organization has expanded to Oswego, Cortland, Madison and Cayuga counties. SFI volunteers bring smiles to more than 800 people every month.
If anything, the growth of Sunshine Friends, Inc is evidence of the increasing popularity and use of pets for therapeutic means. Hopefully this also means that recognition of the human-animal bond is escalating.
